IELTS Enquiry on Results: How to Request a Remark?
If you are dissatisfied with your IELTS results, you can opt and apply for an Enquiry on Results (EOR). Applying for an EOR IELTS allows you to request a review of your scorecard within six weeks of sitting for the exam.
There are two options – you can either choose to review the complete test or you can choose one particular section like Listening, Speaking, Reading or Writing. Read the complete article to learn about the IELTS EOR fee, the application process, and how to check your revaluation results.
What is EOR IELTS?
IELTS Enquiry on Results (EOR) is a revaluation process. It is meant for the candidates who believe they achieved less than they deserve in the exam. Both IELTS General and IELTS Academics candidates hoping to study at the top universities of the world can opt for this.
In this EOR process, your performance in IELTS is re-evaluated by a senior examiner – primarily from the UK or Australia. It must be noted that EOR applies to all the sections covered in IELTS, namely – Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing. Besides, you also have an option to apply for a particular section.
Things to Consider Before Requesting an Enquiry of Results (EOR)
Before taking the final decision to apply for the IELTS EOR, you must keep in mind the following important things:
- Candidates have the option to fill out the IELTS EOR application form in online mode. Offline applications are no longer accepted.
- You must fill out the form with all your correct details. Also, attach your service fee payment proof to ensure successful EOR application.
- You can raise an EOR request only once for each exam.
- The charges for the complete scorecard or a single-section scorecard remain the same.
- The review is conducted by senior examiners suggested by the British Council or IDP.
- Your initial scores are not disclosed to the new examiners.
- The Test Partners conducting the IELTS exam determine the service fee for raising an EOR.
- Your new score (whether changed or not) is made available within 2 to 21 days of your EOR submission.
- In case, your score is changed, you are required to return your initial Test Report Form (TRF), also known as your certificate. Once returned, a new Test Report Form will be issued in your name.
- The IELTS EOR success rate is typically 50%. In many cases, the results remain unchanged.
- If you are still unhappy with your EOR score, you can also pursue a more extensive appeals process, which is handled by your test centre.
Steps to Fill Out Enquiry of Results (EOR)
Only online applications are accepted for the EOR IELTS process. Offline applications are no longer accepted. Mentioned below is the step-by-step process to apply:
- Visit the IDP IELTS website.
- Log into your account using your username and password.
- After logging in, go to the EOR tab. In this section, click on “Apply Now”. An EOR application form will appear.
- Follow the instructions and fill out the form with all the required details. Do not leave out blank spaces to avoid rejection.
- The enquiry application form asks for general information like your name, number, exam number, test centre name, address, type of exam (computer-based or paper-based), whether you have requested a specific section or the complete IELTS EOR, followed by your signature and date.
IELTS EOR Fees
To check IELTS revaluation fees, you can visit the official IELTS India website and fetch all the necessary details. The exact IELTS EOR fees are determined by your test centres. Mentioned below are the administrative charges for the EOR application (inclusive of all taxes):
- IELTS: INR 12,750
- CD IELTS: INR 12,750
- UKVI IELTS: INR 12,900
- LIFE SKILLS: INR 12,000
Note: Please note that a full refund will be provided if your IELTS result increases to a higher score band.
How Are Your IELTS EOR Revaluation Results Verified?
The new examiners are completely unaware of your initial IELTS results. Based on your request for the Enquiry on Results (EOR), they will review the specific sections of the exam. For instance, if you have submitted a revaluation request in the Speaking section, the examiner will only review that particular section.
On the other hand, if you have submitted a complete remark consisting of all four sections, then the examiner will remark on all four sections. Each section is marked based on the specified marking criteria.
How to Check the Updated IELTS EOR Revaluation Results?
After the IELTS revaluation process, you can get the updated results via both online and offline modes. To check the results online, you can simply sign into your IDP IELTS portal. The updated test results are available on the digital platform for the next 28 days. Candidates who had opted for paper-based IELTS can verify their updated results in 13 days, and candidates with computer-based exams can verify the results within 3-4 days.
Alternatively, candidates can also request to receive the updated results at their address mentioned in the registration form. They use your ID/passport number to deliver your updated results.
The IELTS Scale
The IELTS score ranges on a scale of 0 to 9 in each individual section. Based on the scores in each section, you get your results in the overall test score bands. In addition, you get a scorecard for each individual section, namely – Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing. This IELTS scale helps different universities and organisations to understand your level of English proficiency.
The table below mentions the IELTS band score and the English level associated with it:

Takeaway
To conclude, the EOR IELTS process gives you the opportunity to request a revaluation of your exam if you believe that your score is certainly less than what you deserve. It permits you to request a complete section review or a particular section review – within six weeks time.
If you are confident that you deserve a better score, then EOR is worth giving a shot! Also, you get a complete refund of the paid EOR fees, provided you get an increase in your scorecard.
